Iranian researchers from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman in a joint research with their counterparts from Amirkabir University of Technology produced nanostructures that can be used in LED panels of TVs and computers.
The nanostructure can be produced through a simple and cost-effective method.
The investigation and application of nanostructures have increased in the past few decades due to their unique physical and chemical properties. The properties depend on the form, size and crystalline condition of nanomaterials. Strontium carbonate (SrCO3) and barium carbonate (BaCO3) are among the materials that are widely used in various industries. Strontium carbonate is used in the production of glass, color formation pieces in TVs and pigments as a magnetic part.
In this research, the use of microwave has been used as a simple and cost-effective method to produce strontium carbonate nanoparticles.
According to the researchers, one of the biggest problems in the production of LEDs is that the heat increases and electrical systems and monitors become hot. In addition to increasing the magnetic power of the devices, the application of the nanostructures synthesized in this research increases the thermal capacity of the device and causes the LED plates to become warm with delay.
In this research, bar-like nanostructures were produced by optimizing the method and studying the power and time of reaction. The produced nanostructures have significant difference with other nanometric and non-nanometric shapes in conductivity and optical properties.
Results of the research have been published in Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, vol. 21, issue 1, 2015, pp. 1132-1136.
