Chairman of Etisalat Egypt Saeed el-Hamly said on Thursday that the government made a promise to put an end to the monopoly of the telecommunications market by the state-run Telecom Egypt.
"The government will take an action before issuing a unified license of telecommunications services," he said.
Etisalat Egypt, a subsidiary of Etisalat UAE, has adopted a clear stance regarding the unified license, el-Hamly said, adding that the government has to consider the legislative framework that controls the industry.
Etisalat was the sole telecommunications 3.5G network operator in Egypt.
