A new study from Crittercism, a mobile apps performance management company, shows the latest software update for Apple devices, iOS 8, crashes 78 percent more often than iOS 7.
The crash rate of apps could be due to the hastened rollout of the software updates.
"Apple seems to be moving even faster than a lot of developers," said Crittercism CEO Andrew Levy.
There was a similar problem with iOS 7, which initially caused iMessage failures. Older phones running the iOS 8 are experiencing many problems. Those using the 4S model have been discouraged from downloading the new update as it dramatically slows down the phone and harms functionality.
"In particular, Apple introduced new APIs to deal with varying screen sizes and to optimize the GPU, both of which are targeted at new devices," said Levy.
