Jordan is aiming to increase its share in the lucrative Saudi Arabia information technology market, according to Intaj, Jordan's ICT Association. Abed Shamlawi, CEO of Intaj, told Gulf News that the Saudi market has huge potential for information technology. "Saudi Arabia is a huge market in the Middle East, and there is great spending on IT services," said Shamlawi. He added that Jordan already exports several IT services to Saudi Arabia, yet Jordan's share in the Saudi IT market is still modest compared to the share of other countries," said Shamlawi in a phone interview. Expansion He stressed that Intaj is doing its best to expand in the GCC, particularly in Saudi Arabia. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia spends an average of Dh14 billion on IT on an annual basis and Jordan's market share is only two per cent. He said Jordan's IT exports to Saudi Arabia are estimated at Dh280 million annually, and that a Jordanian delegation will visit Saudi Arabia to discuss means of boosting Jordan's exports and its market share. The services that the delegation will discuss with Saudi officials will be IT services, software, outsourcing, maintenance, programming and e-content, he said.
