Cairo - MENA

Kuwaiti mobile operator Zain has expressed interest in applying for a fourth-generation license in Egypt, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Yaser Al Qady said.

Addressing a press conference Wednesday, the minister said Prime Minister Sherif Ismail received a letter from Zain Group CEO Scott Gegenheimer.

Zain Group, a leading mobile telecom innovator in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa, serves 48 million customers.

During the meeting, Ismail and Gegenheimer agreed on holding other meetings to discuss the license, the minister told reporters.
