Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady said Sunday President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed his full support for the telecommunications and information technology sector during inaugurating the 20th round of the International Communication and Technology Exhibition (Cairo ICT 2016) earlier in the day.
In statements, the minister added that Sisi tasked him to complete the establishment of the technological areas in Assiut and the Borg el Arab as soon as possible.
The telecommunications sector was able to recently attract foreign investments that have never been achieved since 1997, through issuing the 4G licenses with investments of $1.1 billion dollars and EGP 10 billion, the minister said.
Cairo ICT is a leading technology event in Africa and the Middle East. It is held under the slogan “Digital Disruption Era”. The past 19 rounds of Cairo ICT have been witness of drastic changes and major challenges in societies as well as the technology and communication fields.
