Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mansour Gholami underlined the necessity of enhancing scientific cooperation between Iran and Syria in the domain of scientific research, exchanging expertise and implementing the agreements signed between the two countries.
Meeting the Syrian–Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in Tehran on Wednesday, Gholami said “We are ready to cooperate with the Higher Education Ministry in Syria in framework of a coordinated program in this regard.”
He affirmed that his ministry will continue to grant scholarships to the Syrian students who are studying various specialties at the Iranian universities.
The Iranian Minister expressed his country’s readiness to provide its experience in the domains of scientific parks and research institutions to the Syrian side to benefit from them in different sectors and in the reconstruction field in Syria.
For his part, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on behalf of the Syrian side Hussein Ragheb al-Hussein underlined the importance of scientific cooperation and scientific research and upgrading it to meet the needs for scientific cadres in the current stage of the reconstruction.
He called for increasing scholarships and higher studies and carrying out an ambitious program for holding training courses to the Syrian students and profs , in addition to activating the meetings and cultural dialogues between the two countries.
Al-Hussein underlined the necessity of establishing studies center in cooperation with the Iranian side, and implementing the integrated executive program which was signed in 2016.
In turn, Syrian Ambassador in Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud expressed firm desire to enhance strategic relations between the two countries and to translate them on the scientific track which is considered a vital track for Syria in the current stage.
Ambassador Mahmoud underlined the importance of paying attention to the affairs of Syrian students who are studying at the Iranian universities, calling for working on removing all obstacles facing their scientific process to be able to return and serve their homeland in the fields of their specialties.
