The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)'s Executive Council during its 195th session in the Organisation's offices in the French capital, Paris, has renewed the UNESCO-King Hamad IT-and-Telecommunications-in-Education Award for the next six years.
The renewal of the award's term comes in appreciation from the Council's member countries of the increasingly-growing importance and excellent reputation of this international award.
Several ambassadors and representatives of member countries spoke during the session which discussed the subject of renewal and the accomplishments of the award and its fruitful results internationally which has left the best impact on research and the business of usage of IT and telecommunications in education and its key role in developing this setup in research and work, praising the kind initiative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa allocating this international scientific award which has met large attention and in view of its close relation with the post-2015 international agenda for education, and whose winning projects are selected by a panel of international arbitrators.
Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nu'aimi delivered a speech during the discussion regarding the Award's renewal for the upcoming period, in which he shed light on this award as an expression of close cooperation between the Kingdom Bahrain and UNESCO.
The award has been commended as a sustainable project which boosts UNESCO's efforts in supporting its member countries and laying suitable policies regarding information technology in education.
