Blizzard, the maker of World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo computer games, has confirmed account details of millions of players have been breached. Its security team uncovered "unauthorized and illegal access" to Blizzard's internal network, the company said on its Web site Thursday. So far, Blizzard said, there was no evidence credit card numbers, billing addresses or real names had been accessed, but the company said players in North America should change their login details for the online account management service and beware of phishing e-mails, PC Magazine reported. "We take the security of your personal information very seriously, and we are truly sorry that this has happened," Blizzard said on its site. "Like all companies doing business online, it is not an uncommon occurrence to experience outside parties trying to illegitimately gain access to the operation's structure at some level," Blizzard said, although the company declined to discuss details of the breach, PC Magazine said. Law enforcement officials were informed of the hack, Blizzard said.
