Facebook reported systemwide problems with its website Monday, with users unable to update their status or post comments, messages or photos. Although isolated outages are fairly common, Monday's problems appeared global, Mashable reported. Users of the social networking site attempting to update their status were greeted with a message: "There was a problem updating your status. Please try again in a few minutes." The problem was determined to be a result of a server outage, website monitor Downrightnow.com reported. At 11:43 a.m. EDT, Facebook issued a statement, saying the outages were due to network maintenance: "Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. "We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent. We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused."
