American multinational computer technology corporation Dell has launched ProSupport in Botswana, a platform which gives consumers direct access to the company. The new development, a part of the company's transformation, gives consumers access to Dell's technical support capabilities, spare parts network and certified field engineers in Botswana. Speaking to media in Gaborone on Tuesday, Dell executives said the initiative is expected to spur the company's footprint in the diamond rich southern Africa nation. "We are looking to grow our customer base in the country. Botswana is the 11th country that we have done this launch in the past nine months," said Bradford McKenzie, head of services in emerging markets. According to Dell, the transformation means Botswana now has support and technical expertise with around the clock-telephone diagnosis, local inventory spare parts and onsite service delivery. Consumers will get ProSupport service in the same manner as customers' in Europe and the United States. Mackenzie said several factors influenced Dell to commence ProSupport in Botswana ahead of other country in the Southern Africa region. He said the factors include political stability and good doing business rankings coupled with recommendations from their registered distributors local. The platform already launched in South Africa, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya and Algeria is expected to be rolled into 15 countries in Africa by next year. "We are very serious about the investment into Africa and aggressive in terms of expanding our services," McKenzie said. Apart from helping grow Dell's footprint in the region ProSupport is expected to give consumers in Africa swift response from the company's technical team. "We are real trying to compress the downtime window for the customers. However, we are still 100 percent partner driven, we will always transact with customers through partners," said John Reynolds, Service Director at Dell. In the past seven years Dell has invested over 16 million U.S. dollars in acquisitions over 20 companies in its endeavor to become an end-to-end enterprise solution.
