With Windows 8 debuting to mixed reviews and a series of alleged leaks purporting to reveal classified information about the upgrade, Microsoft is expected to reveal new details about the latest upgrade to the operating system, Windows 9, at a "'technical preview" in San Francisco on Tuesday.
The upgrade to Windows 9 is expected to available for free for Windows 8 users. Microsoft has not officially confirmed the free upgrade stateside -- or even specifically used the words "Windows 9" in any official capacity -- but Microsoft Indonesia president Andres Diantoro confirmed the rumor to the Indonesian press.
"When [Windows 9] launches, users who have been using Windows 8 just need to update via [their] device," Diantoro said.
"It will be installed automatically."
Originally rumored to be released around April 2015, a leaked internal memo revealed Windows 9 may not be released until September 2015, or possibly as late as Christmas.
