Samsung may unveil a rival to the Google Glass wearable computer before the year is over, Korea Times reported. The newspaper, citing unnamed Samsung officials, said Samsung is aiming to unveil its Galaxy Glass eyewear at the IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin in September. "The new smart glass to be introduced by Samsung is a new concept of wearable device that can lead to an exciting culture of communication," Korea Times quoted one anonymous Samsung official as saying. "The smart glass will present our aim to lead the new market with proven capability. Wearable devices can't generate profits immediately. Steady releases of devices are showing our firm commitment as a leader in new markets." The glasses would reportedly pair with a Samsung smartphone to display information to the wearer, letting them answer phone calls and listen to music. There have been previous reports of Samsung apparently working on wearable glasses; in October the Wall Street journal reported a Samsung patent filing describing electronic devices in the form of eyewear.
