Tehran - Irna

The secretary general of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) said Tuesday that two thirds of the world’s total gas resources are located in Iran, Russia and Qatar.Addressing an international conference on oil and gas in Tehran, Leonid Bokhanovsky said the Islamic Republic of Iran is the cradle of gas exporting states because the GECF was first established in 2001 in that country. Bokhanovsky noted the GECF attaches great importance to Iran due to its rich hydrocarbon resources. He then expressed his concern over the excessive gas consumption and predicted that it will be a challenge in the next three decades. The 15th International Conference on Technology and Innovation in Oil and Gas Industry kicked off in Tehran Tuesday and will wind up on November 2.
