PetroChina's Dalian liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal received its first shipment on Wednesday, the company said Thursday. The LNG carrier "Expedient" sailed into Dalian terminal in northeast China's Liaoning province on Wednesday, indicating that the trial operation of the terminal had formally commenced, the company said in a statement on its website. Dalian terminal will mainly receive LNG fuel from Qatar, Australia and Iran, and send the energy to northeast China and parts of north China after regasification, the statement said. The construction of the terminal started in 2008 and finished in April this year. The terminal has an annual handling capacity of 3 million tonnes of LNG under phase-one development. Its annual LNG handling capacity is expected to rise to 10 million tonnes in the future, the statement said.
