The Ministry of Awqaf announced on Monday that an ancient copy of the holy Quran has been found in a mosque in Beheira's Damanhur city.
The Quran, which dates back to the 10th hijri century, mixes between the Quran text, tafsir and different types of recitation.
The Quran was discovered by a committee tasked with examining rare manuscripts, documents and books across the country, Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said.
Rare manuscripts were attached to the Quran when it was found.
Gomaa agreed with the ministers of antiquities and culture to display the old Quran in various book and antique fairs.
