Al-Azhar's Islamic Research Academy
Cairo - MENA

Al Azhar's Islamic Research Academy has issued a book on countering extremism and terrorism through correcting misconceptions about Islam, secretary-general of the academy Mohie el Din Afifi said Friday.

The publication will be available for people early next week as part of efforts by Grand Imam of Al Azahr Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb to counter extremist ideologies, Afifi said.

The book scientifically tackles controversial notions about the Islamic state and the caliphate, he added.

It also reviews the concept of Jihad in Islam with the aim to refute extremists' arguments about this idea.
