In another victory for Bahraini sport and new confidence by international federations in the Kingdom's ability to host prominent sporting events, providing methods of success, the Executive Office of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) announced that after strong competition, the Kingdom would be granted the honour to host the events of the FEI General Assembly, which will be held in 2018.
A great number of leading figures in the international equestrian sport will be present in the upcoming FEI General Assembly, the largest meeting at the level of the international equestrian sport, which will focus the world's attention on Bahrain. The Assembly is of great importance as it will determine the winner of the Federation’s presidency, in addition to discussing several important points regarding the development and advancement of the equestrian sport.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, confirmed the importance of Bahrain hosting the largest sports gathering in the equestrian world, which affirms the confidence of international federations in the Kingdom’s great ability to make such prominent gatherings successful.
His Highness said, "The success of the Kingdom of Bahrain in organising and hosting various sporting events is a living testament to the great development experienced thanks to the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Kingdom has been placed in the ranks of countries that attract various championships and sports gatherings."
His Highness added, "It is a great honour for the Kingdom of Bahrain to host the FEI General Assembly. Our primary objective is to organise the 2018 General Assembly at the best level, in order to provide a global platform to encourage all participants to choose the most suitable person to lead the FEI in the coming period. It will also provide opportunities for them to put forward constructive discussions and dialogue to support the FEI and put forth decisions that help develop the equestrian sport in the world, increasing productivity with a unified vision based on cooperation among all members."
Faisal Rashid: Confirming the status of Bahraini Equestrian Sport
For his part, His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF), confirmed the importance of hosting the FEI General Assembly, especially since the meetings will determine the Federation’s future direction. His Highness said, "It is not new to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which has hosted many sports tournaments and championships and has consistently demonstrated its ability to succeed in bringing out these events in a distinguished manner. This has made it a place of trust of international federations." He added, "Bahrain’s hosting of the FEI General Assembly confirms the Kingdom’s position in organising major forums and events at all levels, which resulted in the FEI choosing the Kingdom to hold its General Assembly, owing to the capability and ideal atmosphere it possesses for success in all aspects. Embracing Manama to hold these meetings is a translation of the continuous efforts and endeavours that we are proud of, thanks to the unlimited support and care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which reflect positively in holding these events."
