Egypt's Dar al-Iftaa
Cairo - MENA

Egypt's Dar al Iftaa denounced on Wednesday the bomb attack launched by the terrorist Daesh group on a church in Mosul.

In a statement, the top Islamic authority producing religious opinions said the terrorist group provided proofs that support their criminality and hatred for all religions.

On Monday, the Daesh militants bombed the ancient Iraqi Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Mosul.

The security of mosques, churches and synagogues is a responsibility on the shoulder of every Muslim, the statement said, adding Prophet Muhammad of Islam has never attacked a church or worshiping place during war.

They, 'Daesh' neither represent Islam nor the Muslim world, the statement said.

Under Islam's teachings the demolishing of churches "is a clear prohibition" which was twisted as many other principles by violent and takfiri organizations, the statement added.

"There is no compulsion in religion," it said.

In Islam, believers of any other religion are free to carry out their ritual rights at worship places, Dar al Iftaa said.
