An exhibition showcasing made-in-China ceramic works opened in the Nigerian capital Abuja on Friday, featuring porcelain plates and sculptures from six Chinese artists.
The 15-day exhibition, holding at the Chinese Cultural Center in Abuja, is built on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of strategic cooperative partnership between Nigeria and China.
Yan Xiangdong, director of the Chinese Cultural Center, said the exhibition was significant because it was planned to showcase the Chinese art through ceramics, adding it would also promote cultural ties between both countries.
Yan, at the opening of the exhibition, said the program was organized also to celebrate the second year of the establishment of Chinese Cultural Center in Nigeria. This year marks the 44 years of bilateral relations between the two countries.
In 1990, China and Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cultural relations which the two countries renew every four years in order to further deepen their bilateral friendship.
Ceramic works displayed at the event include porcelain plate, jars and sculptures, to mention a few.
Chinese ambassador in Nigeria Gu Xiaojie and top officials in Nigeria's ministry of culture, tourism and national orientation were among dignitaries who attended the opening of the exhibition late Friday.
