A major title on the life and achievements of Abu Bakr Siddique, the first caliph of Islam, was released by Darussalam International Publications on the occasion of their 25th anniversary in Riyadh Wednesday. A colorful ceremony, organized by Darusslam at the local Marhaba Restaurant, was attended by a large number of Saudi and Pakistani Islamic workers, academics and diplomats including Pakistani Ambassador Mohammed Naeem Khan. Speaking on the occasion, Khan congratulated the Darussalam management for completing 25 years of service to Islam and said: "This publication house is rendering great services by publishing books and producing electronic information tools, which will go a long way in projecting the correct image of Islam across the world." He appreciated the efforts of Darussalam for publishing books on the lives of noble companions, who were very close to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Khan said: "Islam is the religion of tolerance and nonviolence, a message being spread by organizations like Darussalam. One must inculcate a habit to read the Qur'an and understand Islam and to present it in true perspectives." Prominent among those who spoke on this occasion included Canadian author Luqman Naji, Maulana Iqbal Kelani, Asif Qureshi, Mansoor Memon, Shamshad Ali Siddiqui, Waqar Naseem Wamiq, Tanveer Ahmed and Kashif Riaz. "Darussalam is pleased to present this valuable book about Abu Bakr Siddique, who served as a trusted adviser and close friend to the Prophet,” said Abdul Malik Mujahid, Darusslam managing director. He pointed out that Darussalam has undertaken another prestigious project to compile the Friday sermons of Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah. The sermons will soon be published as a book in several languages, Mujahid announced. He said Al-Sudais appreciated the works of Darussalam in the service of Islam and for spreading the message of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Darussalam is on expansion drive not only in Saudi Arabia but outside the Kingdom also, said Mujahid, adding the foundation stone of a world-class printing complex of Darussalam International was laid in Pakistan recently. He said this printing facility will be the second of its kind for the printing and propagation of the Holy Qur’an after the King Fahd Printing Complex in Madinah. The latest machinery for printing and binding of the Holy Qur’an will be installed here, he added. Darussalam is a multilingual international Islamic publishing house, with headquarters in Riyadh, and branches and agents in major cities of the world. Darussalam has been engaged from its very inception, in producing books on Islam in Arabic, English, Urdu, Spanish, French, Hindi, Persian, Malayalam, Turkish, Indonesian, Russian, Albanian and Bengali. The main theme of these books is to present the fundamentals of Islam as explained by the most recognized Islamic scholars of the Muslim world. The books published by Darussalam are not only worthy of attention for the high level of their subject matter but also for their elegant nature.
