Education is one of the most important interactive tools to extend cultural depth in the African continent and its French-speaking countries, said Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Relations and International Security Hesham Badr.
He, meanwhile, underlined the need of supporting Senghor University, which is affiliated to the International Organization of La Francophonie and its premises is located in Alexandria since its establishment in 1989.
Badr's remarks came on the occasion of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Senghor University on Monday.
The celebration, hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is attending by a host of senior public figures, accredited ambassadors of the Franchophonie countries in Cairo, a host of heads of the various universities in Egypt.
Egypt is keen on offering all the facilities to support this international university, which is the sole body which uses the French language to serve development in Africa, Badr said.
He further said that Egypt's support to the university contributed to offering a distinguished scientific message which benefits the countries of the African continent.
Egypt’s Senghor University in Alexandria was set up following the 1989 summit of French-speaking countries in Dakar, Senegal, which decided to establish a French-language international university “in the service of African development” to train high-level managers, civil servants and governors at masters level.
