Egyptian embassy in Beijing hosts ink painting exhibition
Beijing - MENA

The Egyptian embassy in Beijing hosted an exhibition of ink painting works that were drawn by a group of Chinese female artists, who used their brushes to paint their impressions of Egypt.

In statements to MENA on Monday, Cultural counselor Hussein Ibrahim said the exhibition featuring six Chinese women painters’ works is part of the 2016 China-Egypt Cultural Year.

The ink paintings showcased works of Chinese painters; Xie Lifang, Luo Ying, Li Daimei, Zhao Yi, Xu Qiping and Huang Huan, who got inspiration from their visit to Egypt in April, he added.

Chinese painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world.

Traditional painting involves essentially the same techniques as calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black ink or coloured pigments; oils are not used.

Ink and wash painting also loosely termed watercolour or brush painting, and also known as "literati painting".
