Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Sunday inaugurated Prince Mohamed Ali Museum in Manial, after more than 10 years of renovation work.
The Manial Palace Museum was built by Prince Muhammad Ali, the first cousin of King Farouk and the younger brother of Khedive Abbas II Hilmi.
The restoration included the consolidation and reconstruction of the gypsum ceiling of the palace's main hall, which was built in the 1940s to reduce the load of the chandelier on the original ceiling, Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el Damaty said.
The palace contains many artifacts in a vintage architectural ambience.
The museum consists of 11 sections, the gate which resemble castles gates, the reception which was designed to receive official guests, there is also the Clock tower which Prince Mohamed Ali built after the Andalusian and Moroccan fashions, and many halls.
