Egypt's Antiquities Minister Mamdouh Damaty held a meeting Thursday with Libyan Minister of Media, Culture and Antiquities Omar El Gawairi.
The two ministers discussed cooperation on archaeological projects. Discussion covered help needed to maintain Libyan ancient sites under continued armed clashes that gripped the country since removal of Gaddafi.
They agreed on dispatching Egyptian archeologists to develop work in ancient Libyan sites and antiquities stores.
Also, they will assist Libyans officials in underwater archaeological excavation projects.
During the meeting, Damaty asserted keenness to rescue ancient sites in Libya and other Arab countries from turmoil hit the region in the past few years.
