The Egyptian Independent Publishers Union will be held at the headquarters of Waad Publishing House on Friday. A number of Egyptian Publishers will listen to the each other’s vision and discuss the business of the union starting next week and announce its full composition and the names of its members. The union is part of a new trend of independent unions set up outside the governmental state system, which was sparked by the Egyptian January 25 Revolution. The Union aims to recruit publishers, independent booksellers and second hand book dealers in the famed Azbakia and Sayeda Zeinab book markets, who were formerly were prohibited from joining unions.
