Visiting Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Dr. Ali Jannati indicated in a press conference here on Thursday that he would be meeting with National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and members of the Kuwaiti Writers Association today, among his scheduled activities.
He applauded the considerable progress of bilateral ties and the growing frequency of bilateral visits among Kuwaiti and Iranian officials. For instance, he noted the recent historical visit of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait to Iran and the visit of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Tehran as well.
The Iranian guest spoke favorably at the press conference of his meeting with His Highness the Amir yesterday and with His Highness the Prime Minister with whom he discussed bilateral relations.
In his meeting with His Highness the Amir, Dr. Jannati hand delivered to the former a written message of thanks for the kind letter His Highness the Amir sent to Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, regarding his convalescence from a recent illness.
Indicating that his visit to Kuwait was at the invitation of Kuwait's Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, the Iranian Minister said he was primarily here to attend a number of joint cultural events, among them an evening of poetry dedicated to Iran's venerated classical poet Hafez Al-Shirazi and a musical concert and poetry recital which will take place tonight at the Dasma Theater.
Among bilateral exchanges of visits, Dr.Jannati said within the few upcoming weeks Iranian Minister of Finance and Economy and Iranian Central Bank Governor will be visiting Kuwait as well as a visit by a bevy of Iranian journalists and media experts.
