A dating web site for Kazakh Muslims wishing to create a family was launched in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh KTK TV channel reported on Wednesday. The main page of the web site, http://nikah1.ru, says only visitors with "sincere intentions to create a religious family" are allowed to register on the site. The profiles of those "seeking pleasure and with sinful desires" will be blocked, the website's organizers said on the main page. Kazakh religious authorities hailed the idea, saying Muslims have needed a website like this for a long time. “A Muslim man can't just go up to a woman on the street and ask her to be his friend because Sharia law forbids it. We think such a website will help people meet and create a family,” Nurmukhamed Iminov, the deputy head of the central mosque in the Kazakh city of Almaty told the channel.
