His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will sponsor Wednesday a UNESCO ceremony to honor late Sheik Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as an international personality of educational and cultural achievements, a senior official at the Amiri Diwan said on Sunday.
Head of the Center of Historic Documents and Libraries at the Amiri Diwan Sheikha Mona Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah added that the UNESCO had chosen Sheik Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in April 2013 among other world personalities for their contributions to developing human culture and knowledge.
The ceremony comes half a century after Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah handed over the education and culture responsibilities in Kuwait to a new generation of leaders, whose education and qualification he himself supervised. Sheik Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was the first Minister of Education in Kuwait, 1962-1964.
The UNESCO ceremony comes as a result of cooperation among the Center of Historic Documents and Libraries at the Amiri Diwan, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), the Kuwait permanent office in Paris and Kuwait National Commission for Education, Science and Culture.
