A Novel-Myanmar literary festival will be held in Myanmar this weekend, aimed at promoting the country's literary world and raising public interest in literature, organizers said here on Monday.
The three-day festival starting Jan. 17 is also aimed at developing people's reading habit, promoting writers' innovative idea and helping support the development of Myanmar's literacy with Nobel award-winning literature.
More than 70 translated versions of award-winning books will be published during the event, which has attracted 40 publishing houses.
A book fair, paper-reading session, cartoon show, writer-reader dialogue, book launching and short novel-reading session will also be held.
A plan is being made to hold a separate children's literary festival next year, organizers said.
