The number of visitors to the ancient city of Petra dropped by 12 per cent in October, compared with figures for the same month last year, according to the Petra Archaeological Park.
In October this year, a total of 54,684 people, including 41,483 foreigners and 13,201 Jordanians, visited Petra, while 61,894 tourists from various nationalities visited the city in October 2013.
Revenue from entry tickets dropped by 20 per cent during the month of October, amounting to JD1.167 million compared with JD1.459 million the same month the year before.
