The Pharaonic golden coffin at Akhenaten hall in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo's Tahrir was moved for examination by the CT scan, inside the facility, the museum's director said Thursday.
In statements, Mahmoud el-Hallougi dismissed reports on moving any ancient coffins to the Grand Egyptian Museum or any other place nationwide, stressing the circulated photos of the coffin on social media were captured while moving it to the unit of CT scan.
El-Hallougi said the transferring process was properly carried out.
He added the coffin was moved back to its place in the museum after the examination was made.
