A Picasso painting estimated at 60,000 U.S. dollars was stolen on Oct. 21 from a Colombian museum in the southern province of Cauca, the museum said in a statement on Tuesday. The museum said local authorities were already investigating the theft of the untitled water color painting which was donated by a Colombian sculptor, Edgar Negred, to the museum in the provincial capital of Popayan. According to the museum, local authorities said it was possible to locate suspects and recover the painting. Meanwhile, local press reported that two unidentified expatriates were wanted in the investigation. Ramiro Nadia, mayor of Popayan, told reporters the museum under the jurisdiction of the city hall does not have "the technical equipment to protect these art works" due to high security cost.
