Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has called for protecting the Pyramids plateau and the other tourist sites in Egypt.
"Any assault on Egypt's antiquities would affect our history," the premier said on Sunday after opening the development and restoration works at the Pyramids plateau.
Mahlab vowed also to punish any person who defames Egypt's antiquities and civilization.
Earlier, Mahlab inspected the ongoing restoration works of the Sphinx, the pyramid of Menkaure and Amenhotep II Museum.
He was accompanied by Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damati and Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou.
