Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese in Egypt attended Thursday a conference held here under the title "I remember and demand", which was held to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
Pope Tawadros II arrived here on Monday, on his first visit to Armenia since taking over the papal seat in November 2012.
The Pontiff is accompanied by Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church Anba Raphael, Bishop Youannes of Social Services and Pope's Secretary Angaelus Ishaq.
Purported by Turkey’s former Ottoman government, the genocide saw 1.5 million Armenians systematically killed by 1915.
