His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's Representative, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah has attended the inaugural ceremony of Bishop Ghattas Hazim as Metropolitan of Baghdad, Kuwait and Dependencies.
The ceremony was held Thursday evening at the Greek Orthodox Church in Salwa.
Addressing the ceremony, Metropolitan Ghattas highlighted Kuwait's historical role for achieving renaissance in the Gulf region, saying the country embraces human endeavors to realize development.
As part of its Arab responsibilities, Kuwait has set up several institutions for supporting urban projects in all Arab countries, he said, pointing out the country's support to Lebanon at the time of war, and later for reconstruction. He also stressed Kuwait's role for helping Syrians at present.
Metropolitan Ghattas referred to the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center", and emphasized His Highness the Amir's policy based on dialogue, synergism and love.
He also expressed gratitude to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah
Metropolitan Ghattas underlined the long history of peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians in the East, saying they will build the future on the basis of love and respect.
He prayed for people in all Arab countries that are countering painful changes.
Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch, Patriarch John X Yazigi also addressed the occasion greeting His Highness the Amir and his aides, and prayed for peace for Kuwait and the Kuwaiti people as well as for stability in Syria and Lebanon
His Highness the Amir's Representative was offered a souvenir on the occasion.
