Minister of Antiquities Dr Mamdouh el Damaty has decided to relocate Director of Restoration at the Egyptian Museum Dr Elham Abdel Rahman to the Royal Vehicles Museum in Boulaq in light of the wrong restoration of the Tutankhamun mask at the museum.
The minister has referred all the staff responsible for the mistake to the prosecution for interrogation, Head of the Museums Sector Ahmed Sharaf told MENA on Tuesday.
Sharaf denied statements by one of the ministry's officials that the mask currently at the museum is not original and that the original was stolen during the January 25 revolution.
The ministry will press charges against the ministry's official for his attempt to create confusion and harm the reputation of Egyptian archeologists, tourism and Egypt's national security, he added.
