H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, accompanied by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al-Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Arts Foundation, this evening toured the UAE pavilion at 56th Biennale Venice in Italy.
The event is being held under the theme, "UAE Exhibitions since 1980 to date." The UAE pavilion is being supervised by Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development.
The event features abstract, sculpture and classic works, as well as visual, photographic and synthetic works by 14 Emirati artists.
Sheikha Hoor said the UAE is the first Arab country to participate at the Venice Biennale with a pavilion, which showcases a selection and variety of works of art from different time periods, and noted that the pavilion highlights the history of the emergence of the artistic groups in the UAE.
She added that the UAE's participation in the event aims to promote cultural and technical expertise exchange with other participant countries so as to enrich the experience of the UAE artists through direct communication.
