Following the conclusion of the Award’s Reading Panels’ work, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award today announced its long-list of book titles for its "Literature" category comprising of ten titles.
The "Literature" longlist includes the following: Book title, name of Author, Nationality and Publisher. The details are Zawjat Al Milh (Wife of Salt)-Poetry, written by Yousef AbuLoz from Jordan, Dar Al Sada (2013); Al Shafiyat, (The healers)-Novel, written by Abbas Beydoun from Lebanon, Dar Al Saqi (2014); Imra’at A’mal, (A Businesswoman)-Novel, written by Bensalem Himmish from Morocco, Dar Al Shurooq (2013); Majaneen Bait Lahem (The fools of Bethlehem)- Novel, written by Osama Alaysa from Palestine, Nofal- Hachette Antoine (2013); Qastara (Catheterization)- Poetry, written by Kareem Matouq from U.A.E., Dar Al Yasmeen (2014); Wujooh Sikandariyyah (Faces from Alexandria)-Memoir, written by Ala’a Khaled from Egypt, Dar Al Shurooq (2012); Naseebi min Paris (My share of Paris)- Memoir, written by Ahmed El Madini from Morocco, Al Dar Al Masriyyah Al Lubnaniyyah (2014); Hona Al Qahira (This is Cairo)- Novel, written by Ibrahim Abdelmaguid from Egypt; Inhiraaf Haad (Sharp Curve)-Novel, written by Ashraf El Khamaysi from Egypt, La shama tadoll ommi ‘alai (No Moles to Lead my Mother to Me)- Poetry, written by Ghassan Zaqtan from Palestine, Dar Al Ahliyyah (2014).
Last year, AbdulRasheed Mahmoudi from Egypt won the "Literature" title for his novel "Ba’d Al Qahwah" (After Coffee).
The award comprises of nine categories where the total monetary prize stands at AED 7 million. Each prize consists of a gold medal bearing the SZBA logo, a certificate of merit and AED 750,000. The Cultural Personality of the Year winner receives a prize of AED 1 million.
