The Ministry of Antiquities on Sunday announced that a Swedish archaeological mission uncovered foundation structures in Al Selsela Mountain, some 65 kilometers north of Aswan.

The Swedish mission, chaired by archaeologist Maria Nelson, is from Lund University which is one of northern Europe's oldest, broadest and finest universities and is consistently ranked as one the world's top 100 universities.

Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh al Damati asserted that the uncovered site has a special religious importance in the Modern Pharaonic era. It proved that this site had existed over four historical eras from Tahamisa era to Aminhoteb III and then Ramsis II and later on, the Roman era.

Meanwhile, Head of Aswan Antiquities Sector Nasr Salama said work in this area started in 2012 and excavations will continue to uncover more secrets about the site.
