Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb met Tuesday with Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Egypt Berik Aryn to discuss means of boosting cultural, religious and education relations between Al Azhar and the Asian country.
The meeting took up an increase in the number of scholarships offered by Al Azhar to Kazakhstan, whose Muslim community makes up 65 percent of the population.
They also discussed Al Azhar efforts to promote the moderate teachings of Islam in Kazakhstan through Nur-Mubarak University.
Tayyeb decided to increase to 20 the number of scholarships offered to Kazakh students.
