An archaeological mission of the Antiquities Ministry unearthed three tombs dating back to the Ptolemaic era in the Upper Egypt governorate of Menya.
In statements Tuesday, the head of the ministry's antiquities sector, Ayman Ashmawy, said the mission started in May its fourth excavation season in an area southwest of Samalout.
He noted that the newly-discovered tombs would uncover more information about the age, noting that several Ptolemaic tombs were previously found.
The newly-discovered tombs are different in their design from the previously discovered ones, he said.
