Police say hundreds of people had to be evacuated in eastern Czech city after an unexploded World War II bomb was found during construction work, Fox News reported.
Spokesman Josef Bednarik said part of a busy street in downtown Olomouc had to be sealed off and people evacuated from cafes, restaurants and shops for almost four hours Tuesday afternoon before experts defused it. Bednarik said the bomb contained about 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of an explosive.
Unexploded bombs and ammunition from World War II are still being unearthed from time to time in the Czech Republic and other European nations like Germany and Britain.
