The 13th Islamic Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) started here today its activities under the title (Session of Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace).
According to Saudi Press Agency, SPA, the Summit was kicked off under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey.
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, chaired the UAE delegation to the summit.
The opening session of the summit commenced by reciting verses from the holy Quran.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry delivered a speech on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt during which he reviewed the efforts made by his country during the period of its chairmanship of the 12th Islamic Summit Conference.
The Egyptian foreign Minister announced handing over the Chairmanship of the Summit to the Republic of Turkey.
Then, the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Iyad bin Amin Madani delivered a speech welcoming the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and presidents and heads of states and heads of delegations of the participating countries in the summit.
He extended congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish government and Turkish people to take over the chairmanship of this session.
