Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas met on Friday with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella in Rome.
During the gathering, the two leaders discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the region as well as Palestinian reconciliation efforts.
An expanded meeting was held after the two presidents' closed meeting.
This meeting was attended by many Palestinian officials, including Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat and Foreign Minister Riyad al Malki.
Also, the Palestinian president has met with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
