Abbas meets Shouky on Palestinian developments

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has met Foreign Minister Sameh Shouky on Tuesday at a Cairo hotel.

The meeting, currently held, deals with the recent developments in the Palestinian arena and the agenda of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee's meeting at the level of foreign ministers, slated for Wednesday.

The two sides are also discussing steps, planned to be taken by the Palestinian leadership in the next phase to end the Israeli occupation.

Abbas arrived in Cairo on Tuesday. He will take part in the opening ceremony of the New Suez Canal, slated for Thursday.

He is also scheduled to meet with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
