Director of the woman, family and childhood department at the Arab League (AL) Inas Sayd Mikkawy said that Sharm el Shiekh city will host three meetings on Arab childhood starting from Monday for three days.
In press statements on Thursday, Mikkawy underlined that three committees will hold the meetings with the participation of representatives of important organization keen on childhood issues in the Arab world, the Arab Parliament, Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) as well as the Arab Labour Organization (ALO).
Some international organizations working in the field of protecting children such as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will take part in the event, she underscored.
The activities will begin with the meeting of the 21st session of the committee of the Arab childhood chaired by Egypt, Mikkawy said, adding that the issues that will be tackled include following up decisions of the Fourth High-Level Arab Conference on Children's Rights (Marrakesh 2010).
The meetings will also take up the Arab strategy to upgrade the conditions of childhood in the Arab world following 2015, the comprehensive Arab plan outlined to guarantee the children's rights in case of catastrophes as well as means of overcoming the phenomenon of street children which increased after the political and economic changes witnessed by the region.
