Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Sabry Magdy Sabry met with African ambassadors accredited to Egypt to review the latest home developments on the heels of the terrorist attacks that took place in North Sinai and the assassination of prosecutor general Hisham Barakat.
In a statement Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said Sabry reviewed the terrorist incidents that took place all through Ramadan month, adding that the Egyptian authorities can face terrorism with the support of the nation.
The attacks coincided with the second anniversary of June 30 revolution, Sabry said.
The Egyptian authorities totally control the situation in Sinai, he said, adding that terror is a phenomenon spreading in different parts of the world.
All the terrorist organizations adopt the same way of thinking and extremist ideologies of the Muslim Brotherhood, Sabry added.
Meanwhile, the African ambassadors asserted their support of Egypt in its war against terrorism, reiterating solidarity with Egypt in the current events.
They hoped Egypt would lead regional and African efforts in fighting terrorism, asserting the need of a plan to confront terrorism, dry out its funding sources and renew religious discourse.
The meeting comes within the framework of intensified diplomatic moves to warn of the risks of terrorism and assert the importance of siding together to face this phenomenon.
Many militant groups who are taking Islam as a cover are operating in Africa, including Boko Haram in Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameron and Shabab Movement in Somalia, Kenya and Uganda along with terrorist movements in Libya, north Africa and the African coast.
