Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Director General of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in Sinai David Satterfield on Thursday.
MFO is an international peacekeeping force overseeing the terms of the 1979 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.
The meeting took up the MFO's mission in Sinai and periodic coordination with the Egyptian government in this regard, Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aati said.
Satterfield thanked the foreign minister over the government's efforts to ease the task of the peacekeeping forces, the spokesman added.
The MFO director general was also keen to listen to Shoukry's assessment regarding the developments in the region, especially the Middle East peace process, the situation in Libya, Syria and Yemen and terror combat efforts, Abdel Aati added.
Satterfield underlined Egypt's pivotal role in fighting terrorism, making the country a foundation for stability and security in the region.
Meanwhile, Shoukry expressed Egypt's support for the MFO in Sinai.
