Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Sunday received France's special envoy for the Middle East peace process Pierre Vimont, who is currently paying a visit to cairo within a regional tour that also takes him to Riyadh and Amman.
The meeting dealt with means to push forward the peace process in the Middle East in light of the current regional and international developments, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Vimont briefed Shoukry on the outcome of his recent visits to some important capitals to coordinate on preparation for an international peace conference, called for by France, to be held before the end of 2016.
He also reviewed the determinants and the general framework of the conference, as well as its objectives and its expected outputs according to the French vision.
Shoukry affirmed Egypt's support for the French initiative and effort to revive the peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, the spokesman said.
The minister also reviewed Egypt's vision and evaluation for ways of making the conference successful, he added.
